Concert held under auspices of the Permanent Mission

On 9 June, 2022, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Armenia to BSEC presented a concert by Komitas National String Quartet at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in Istanbul on the occasion of 20^th anniversary of its establishment. The performance showcased classical works by Komitas, Arutiunian, Mirzoyan, Massenet and Debussy featuring also local pianists. Followed by an official reception the concert was attended by Consuls General of a number of countries accredited in Istanbul, other representatives of the local consular corps, BSEC PERMIS Secretary General, other officials of BSEC Secretariat, head of the Turkish MFA representation office in Istanbul, representatives of Istanbul municipalities, Armenian community members and large number of other guests.

In his welcoming remarks referring to the 30^th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia marked recently Mr. Sahak Sargsyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to BSEC, stressed that despite the numerous challenges Armenia faced throughout its long history and following the restoration of the statehood, the strong national identity anchored in its culture, religion and language, creativity and resilience became a powerful tool, owing to which the Armenian people have always demonstrated its ability for revival and rebuilding a new life. He has continued that, in the context of the 30^th anniversary of the BSEC to be celebrated this month, Armenia as a foundıng member of the Organization reaffirms its commitment to the BSEC goals and principles and will continue actively contributing to sustainable economic development in the region. At the event on this solemn occasion messages were delivered by the Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul Sahak II and BSEC Secretary General L. Comanescu, as well as recognition plaques were presented by the Permanent Mission.

A slide show on Armenia’s activities in BSEC was screened on monitors at the reception hall. The event was featured on Armenia’s Public TV and the local Armenian media.
