Presentations on Armenia’s evaluation report, important IT events and project at the headquarters of the BSEC Organization

On November 27, 2019, at the headquarters of the BSEC Organization the delegation of Armenia presented its country’s Evaluation Report for the period of 2018-2019 - as the current Country-coordinator of the BSEC Working Group on Information and Communication Technologies (WGICT). Approved by the participants, this Evaluation Report recaps the major developments with regard to the implementation of the WCICT Action Plan including the meetings of the Working Group took place in the mentioned period, ministerial meeting, important calendar events held in Member States, as well as seminars organized within the Dialogue Partnership program. In conclusion, the Report comes up with Armenia’s observations, suggestions and proposals to improve the future activities of the Working Group.

 

The Permanent Mission of Armenia presented brief information on the outcomes of the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2019) held in Yerevan on 6-9 October 2019, as well as elaborated on the High Level side event entitled “Harnessing the Power of Technology for Impact: BSEC Perspective on Regional Collaboration" co-organized by the Government of Armenia and the Organization of BSEC in partnership with UNDP on the sidelines of WCIT 2019 on October 7.

 

The Permanent Mission also delivered a power point presentation on an ongoing project entitled “Data-driven IT Solutions for SMEs” on behalf of the project lead partner - Microsoft Innovation Centre Armenia (MIC). Co-funded by Black Sea Project Promotion Facility (BSPPF) the project aims at developing software-based solutions primarily for SMEs, powered by advanced analytics and intelligence, and customized to address specific business needs in different industries, i.e. telecommunication, financial and banking system, transportation, retail and distribution etc. It envisages practical development of some pilots of data-driven solutions, which are needed and can be applicable to other countries of the Black Sea region, in particular the Russian Federation, Moldova and Georgia.

 

Meeting was co-chaired by the Hellenic Republic (as the current Chairmanship in Office) and the Republic of Armenia in the capacity of Country-coordinator of the Working Group.
