Presentation on Armenia’s renewable energy sector at the headquarters of the BSEC Organization

On November 29, 2019, during the meeting of the Working Group on Energy at the headquarters of the BSEC Organization the Permanent Mission of Armenia delivered a power point presentation on the recent developments in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Armenia.

The participants were particularly briefed on the main objectives and key strategic directions of the activities of Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency (R2E2) Fund, which is a state entity that creates favorable environment for the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors by introducing the best practices of sustainable and green energy aimed at ensuring energy security, independence and economic growth in Armenia. R2E2 projects are currently being implemented include (but not limited to) utility scale solar photovoltaic project, Geothermal energy development, energy efficiency in public facilities, energy efficiency improvement especially in rural communities, which help reducing anthropogenic impacts on the environment and the human health.

At the end, mentioning about one of R2E2 Fund’s past projects called “Black Sea Basin 2007-2013”, which included several BSEC member states, the Armenian delegation highlighted the importance of collaboration between BSEC member states, their respective funds, startup ventures in the renewable and green energy sector and promoting projects to be replicated across the BSEC region and beyond.
