Permanent Representative Nairi Petrossian Held in a Round Table Meeting within Ambassadors Series at the Global Relations Forum

04 December, 2025

On December 4 Mr. Nairi Petrossian, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the BSEC Organization, held a roundtable meeting in the framework of the Ambassadors series of the Global Relations Forum (GRF), an Istanbul based think tank. The meeting was attended by the GRF members, a number of the retired ambassadors of the Republic of Turkiye, journalists, representatives of the GRF youth network and civil society. Its general headline was “The Recent Developments in the South Caucasus and Relations with Turkiye.” The round table discussion was moderated by the GRF President Ambassador (retired) Mr. Selim Yenel, who formerly was the Permanent Representative of Turkiye to the EU.

Permanent Representative Petrossian delivered introductory remarks, in which he addressed Armenia’s regional policy, current challenges and opportunities. He particularly emphasized that the trilateral summit held in Washington, D.C. on August 8 of this year, Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations, which manifested the establishment of peace in the region. During the summit held at the White House, the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Azerbaijan, and the President of the United States, as a witness, concluded a Joint Declaration. Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to reciprocally recognize each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and respect each other’s national jurisdiction. Those are general principles within the framework of which the transport infrastructure should be unblocked. A progress on this requires patience, care, resolution of practical issues, and building mutual trust. Armenia remains committed to engaging in good faith to transform the region into an area of constructive cooperation.

The introductory remarks were followed by an active discussion in a question-and-answer format.

The GRF is an independent, non-governmental and non-commercial platform widely recognized in diplomatic circles, which brings together diplomats, international officials, representatives of academic and scientific circles, as well as leading entrepreneurs, financial officials, researchers, artists and journalists.
